Cataluña is an autonomous region of Spain situated in the northeast portion of the peninsula. Its capital is Barcelona, home of the famous architect, Antonio Gaudí. Other famous Catalans include artists Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, and Salvador Dalí. The Catalans are a proud and stubbornly independent people with a unique culture.
![]() The building of the Sagrada Familia began and in 1891 to 1900 ends the façade and began to make the four towers. In nowadays critics accept the opinion of Le Corbusier '' Antonio Gaudí was the creator of the modern organic architecture.

Antonio Gaudi (1852 - 1926) was born in Reus (Tarragona, Catalonia) and died in Barcelona. He studied in Barcelona, in 1883 he was named architect of the temple of Sagrada Familia de Barcelona, where he worked all his live and dedicated his final years of life, but this plan he could see. Between 1883 and 1893 he made the first stage of build of the Sagrada Familia, at the same time too he built another buildings like '' La Casa Vicents'' '' la finca Güell'' (1884-1887) Barcelona, ''El Capricho'' of Comillas (1883-1885) Santander, The monastery of ''Santa Teresa de Barcelona'', the Episcopal palace of Astorga (1887-1893), The House of Fernandez y Andrés, (1891-1894).

Salvador Dalí
(1904 - 1989)
Born in Figueras (Girona) in 1904 and died in 1989. He is one of the most famous
painters in the 20th century. In his first period he was influenced by the
vanguard move with painters like the Spanish Picasso, Carrá and Chirico. In
this period belongs pictures like '' Naturaleza muerta'' ''Retrato de su hermana''
and ''Retrato de su padre''.
In 1929 he Left Spain and went to live in Paris. In 1933 he was expelled from his group and he went to the USA where he consolidated his fame.
Dalí has two museums, one in Figueres (Girona, Catalonia) and the
other one in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
Little Spain a.k.a. Poble Espanyol - Created in 1929 for the World Fair has replicas of various famous places in Spain with a variety of foods and entertainment put together like a small town.
